About
I'm Alex, though on the interwebs you can usually find me under the moniker "kingsfoil". This is my small piece of the internet. I'm partial to the principles espoused by the IndieWeb Project. Though I hadn't heard of them when I began constructing this site. I don't believe that the internet and the things we create should only be able to live on platforms that belong to megacorporations.
I started this site as a single markdown file, and documented the process of turning that file into a small static blogging system (with varying levels of discipline). You can read about that here if you like.
As for myself: I'm in my late 20s and have been putting myself through a bachelor's degree in computer engineering while I work part or full time in various roles related to web development and cybersecurity. When I'm not grinding through hours of homework for my engineering classes or doing code/devops stuff for work, I enjoy collecting and reading far too many books, self-hosting random services, and playing music at various open mics and music groups. I post recordings of jams (drums, mandolin, and sometimes bass) on mastodon from time to time. My side projects are currently on GitHub
